Downtown Partners Sioux City

Nestled between the Historic 4^th Street District and the Historic Pearl District, you will find over 520 properties, including many hotels, restaurants, shops and nightlife venues that make up this culture and entertainment hub of the region in Downtown Sioux City. Founded in 1988, Downtown Partners is an organization with the mission of creating a vibrant and growing Downtown Sioux City.  Like other Downtown management organizations found throughout the nation, Downtown Partners is funded primarily by property owner assessments that are collected by a self-supporting municipal improvement district (or “SSMID”) that was last approved in 2018 by an 82% approval rating.

Since 2010, the footprint of downtown has increased by roughly 140 acres and increased stakeholder and community engagement by over 30%. The organization is guided by a 15-member board of directors that represents a variety of commercial, retail and civic interests in Downtown Sioux City. Downtown Partners work program is currently structured around its last organizational strategic plan that was completed in 2016. Three major activity areas were identified, including Communication, Economy and Environment. The organization maintains a volunteer committee structure to advance each of the activity areas. In 2017, Downtown Sioux City participated in over 65 events in addition to hundreds of local, small business events, which averaged over 15 events per week that were shared with stakeholders and the community via our weekly e-blast.
