Needs From: VolunteerSiouxland

Volunteer: Court Appointed Special Advocates

We are currently recruiting new CASA volunteers to advocate for kids who have been either abused and/or neglected.

CASAs speak for children who can't speak for themselves, children who have been judged as "children in need of assistance" by the state. You'll learn your role through comprehensive training, and then you'll be assigned your own case. A coach and a CASA coordinator will be there to support you along the way as you advocate in court for your assigned children.CASA volunteers average approximately 10-15 hours per month visiting their assigned child, reading case documents, contacting other case parties and preparing a monthly update for their Coordinator and Coach.  This varies considerably, depending on the number of contacts made, the number of children to visit, travel time, and other factors unique to each case.

Please  go to casaiowa.org to complete the application if you are interested in becoming a CASA.  Once your application is received you will be contacted for an interview.  The interview is as much for you to determine if CASA is a good fit for you.  If you have further questions please contact Amy at 712-279-6602.
