Who We Are

My Life, My Choices is a unique, interactive 90-minute learning experience in which every 7th grader in the Sioux City Community Schools will be confronted with real-life situations, decisions and consequences. The program encourages both awareness and empowerment as students discover in real-time that their decisions do have consequences, good and bad.

A community-driven event that involves hundreds of volunteers and professionals, My Life, My Choices tackles such issues as drugs and alcohol, jobs and career choices, health and sexuality, civic responsibility, relationships, social media, discrimination and more. The program’s goal is to have every student walk away with at least one “aha” moment that encourages smart and healthy choices for their future, as well as awareness of resources the can help them navigate the choices ahead.

My Life, My Choices will be held February 11, 12 and 13 at the Long Lines Family Rec Center and will be supported by teachers with a provided program summary and suggested discussion topics, and reinforced with reflection topics provided to teachers and parents following the event.

My Life, My Choices is organized by Epic, a coalition of community organizations committed to education, prevention, information and conversation
