Who We Are

The mission of the Dakota City Public Library is to support a lifelong enjoyment of reading and learning for all ages by serving the community as a resource for information, entertainment, cultural opportunity, and educational development and by making materials available in print and electronic forms; thereby enhancing and enriching the lives of its users.

What We Do

We serve the needs of the community of Dakota City and the surrounding areas. The Library is supported by property tax dollars and donations. Our Friends of the Library group helps us with our programs. With more volunteers, we would be able to add more programs and therefore better serve the needs of our community. We currently run a monthly Story Hour program, service the Beyond the Bell program and sponsor a First Lego League.

We look for volunteers to help with our story hours and Summer Reading program. If you have special talents that you would like to share with us, we would love to add programs of interest to our calendar.
