Who We Are
The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center is a non-profit organization. It does not receive any local, state or federal monies. The Center is supported by donations and grants. A small staff of 5 with 2 regular volunteers are busy as the Center hosts over 30000 visitors a year.
What We Do
Built in 2002 to showcase the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in the Siouxland area, using animatronics, historical displays, and activities, we serve our community in many more ways. In the Betty Strong Encounter Center we offer gallery space for local artists and an auditorium for cultural programs. The Center has implemented FREE programming for our limited membership and enjoyment for the local public. For adults we offer Sunday afternoon programs featuring talented musicians or featuring knowledgeable speakers. For kids we offer creative, educational curriculum for grades K-12, and guided tours for more than 3,000 school children each year. The long running photo exhibits feature Sioux City River history and the children of the St. Augustine Mission School of Winnebago NE.
