Who We Are

Community Action Agency of Siouxland was created in 1971 to help people through economic crises and help them make it on their own. We are a private, nonprofit human services organization.

In our last fiscal year, we touched the lives of nearly 14,000 individuals. Eligibility is based on federal poverty guidelines. Since guidelines vary by program, we encourage individuals to apply to see what programs they may be eligible for. Most of our programs are focused on Woodbury County, but there are exceptions. The Child and Adult Care Food Program operates in Cherokee, Ida, Plymouth, and Woodbury counties, as well as, our Weatherization Program helps people in both Monona and Woodbury Counties.

What We Do

We have a number of programs to carry out our goal of providing short-term aid and encouraging long-term change. These programs include: early childhood education, emergency assistance, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, Weatherization, Welcome Home, child care nurse consultant, family development, and Child and Adult Care Food Program.
