Who We Are

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are well trained community volunteers appointed by a judge to serve as an effective voice in court for an abused or neglected child.  CASA volunteers get to know the child and all family and professionals involved in their lives.

A CASA advocate is an ordinary person who wants to make a difference in the life of a child or teen.  We encourage people from all walks of life to get involved.

Only 15% of the children in the court's jurisdiction have access to a CASA.  We cannot serve the children of Iowa without dedicated volunteer advocates.

If interested you are interested don't hesitate to call (515-823-3496) or go online hhs.iowa.gov/casa to learn more.

What We Do

CASA volunteers have 4 main responsibilities:

1. Gather information about the child and their life

2. Report and make recommendations to the court

3. Advocate for the best interest of the child

4.  Monitor until the child has a safe, stable and permanent home.
