The first EVER Pride Parade will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022. The parade will be on 4th Street, starting at Iowa Street and ending at Nebraska Street (going east to west). The Sioux City Police Department requires that we have a total of 22 barricades for the parade. Each barricade needs one person to monitor the barricade.
Volunteers will need to pre-register to help with this event.
On the day of the event (June 2), monitors will check in at 5:00 pm. If they desire, they should bring a folding chair with them. Each monitor will be assigned to a specific barricade, which will be waiting for them on the sidewalk near where it will need to be set up.
At 5:50 pm each volunteer will place their barricade on the street they were assigned. The parade begins at 6 pm.
The barricade will need to be in place until the end of the parade has passed that specific location. (For example, the barricades on Iowa Street will likely be able to be taken down by 6:10 pm or so. The barricades on Jackson Street probably can't be taken down until about 6:45 pm.) Once the parade has passed, the monitor will return the barricade to its original position. At that time, the volunteer will be free to leave.
